London is where most B2B software and AI companies start in Europe — but the hire rarely stays in one country. The same search often ends in Paris, Berlin, Cologne or Amsterdam.
We run GTM searches across those markets: sales, pre-sales and post-sales for venture-backed SaaS and AI companies, including the first EMEA hire for US businesses.

Difficulty, pool and cost are relative to each other on a five-point scale. Tenure and notice are typical for mid-to-senior GTM roles and vary by seniority and contract.
The offer

I built and scaled these teams myself. I made the hiring mistakes — that’s why I started Tipped.

Hiring in EMEA — common questions
- What countries can you help us hire in?
- The United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the wider Nordics, Iberia and Ireland on a search-by-search basis. Most of our EMEA work runs through London, Paris, Berlin, Cologne and Amsterdam.
- Can you advise on visa and Employer of Record structures?
- Yes. Most companies hiring their first EMEA person do not yet have a local entity, so we advise on the practical route and we have a relationship with Remote.com to facilitate Employer of Record employment, payroll and compliant contracts in each market.
- What do you advise for a company opening in EMEA for the first time?
- Pick one market and one buyer, not a region. Hire a senior enough first seller to open doors without local management, base them where your buyers are rather than where flights are cheapest, and budget for a three-month notice period in France and Germany. We usually recommend the first hire carries pipeline and the regional argument, with the second hire chosen only once the first has evidence.
- How long does an EMEA search take?
- Ten working days from brief to shortlist with written rationale. Time to start is then driven by notice periods, which are the real variable in EMEA: one month in Amsterdam, up to six in parts of Germany.
- Do candidates need to speak the local language?
- For enterprise sales in France and Germany, usually yes — native-level for the buyer conversation. For Netherlands, Nordics and regional roles run out of London, English-first is normal. We agree this in the brief because it changes the pool size materially.
- How does compensation compare across these markets?
- London carries the highest base and OTE. Paris and Germany run lower base with higher employer costs and longer notice. Amsterdam sits in between and is often the most efficient base for multi-country coverage. We benchmark against live comparators in the market you are hiring in, not a European average.
- What do you charge, and when?
- The consultation is free and nothing is owed unless you hire the person we introduce. No retainer for contingent search.
